Riot didn’t make people play less things, the community wanted to only play particular roles. They were doing that long before Riot has any of these systems in place. They want to specialize. This system is a natural extension of that.
My point is that people already do that. They already troll when they don’t get the role they want and even if they don’t troll autofilled people often aren’t up to playing the role they have been assigned. They change addresses the second part, players not being skilled in the roles they have been assigned.
One way of correcting the issue with autofiller feeding would be to make it easier to climb if you have a lot of ranks near your highest. So a player with a lot of Plat 3 ranks would gain more LP per win then a similar player with only one Plat 3 rank and a lot of lower or unraked roles.

I get why they did it. I have played this game a lot and the difference in my ability to play each role is pretty massive. My ADC is trash tier where my top and mid are respectable. Now you can play each role at the correct rank for your skill in that position.
One think I would like to say as someone who works with a lot of big data is that this poll is already skewed. You have stated your opinion on the topic quite strongly and that will carry over to your audience as a whole. I’m not sure the results are going to be representative of the communities feelings on the topic.
