Buy a new one, with an explorer pack. If you can keep your old one great, but their value will only go up a little until the neigh sayers scared of evolution realise that the new one will smash the old one to bits. Buy a new one and use it as your every day car.

Been living here a number of years and seen a decline thanks to the current Mayor. Still one of the great citys though.

If you can afford I would say keep both! I do like the new Defender, I also think the 2016 Defender will lose you any money. Have both:-)

Tbh I think you should buy the new one, only if you are really going to drive it. It is a brilliant car to go around London and just have fun with, and at the same don’t care about potholes and etc, something that your i3s I believe struggles with. The old one is an icon and a complete legend the new one will be seen as ‘just another car’.

I was dreading the new defender coming out….defender is a icon and deep routed with its followers.
TBF land rover have tried to capture the ethos of the defender. The rugged outdoor adventure life etc. And fair play it’s growing on me….

I honestly think that you should keep your 2016 defender. On the simple fact that you don’t really use it very much so it would more of an occasion to take this defender out for a drive rather than the new one

Get the top of the range first addition with every option box ticked. I doubt no body else would do that. As for the old defender, keep it its a piece of automotive history!

Hey mate. I’ve got a 1995 Defender. Love it. I think you should get the new one. Controversial but neccessary change by Land Rover, but will be nice to see the two generations side by side in your garage!

I am a land rover owner too… So, I’m asking myself the same…
I will probably buy the new one because i need adventure, and my old one is wonderful, but, i’m kind of frustrated with, i can’t take it to go over Europa and do 2 or 3000km because it’s not so confortable, and the fiability would not be as expected with a brand new one…

I do think you should buy a new one the technology is brilliant but I do think you should keep the old one they will always be an icon and I can’t see them losing any money any time soon. Plus as land rover owner my self (mines 1972) the defender will always bring a smile to your face when ever you see or drive it or both.

Get the new one and keep the old one fella. You could do some content with both of them. The old one will appreciate, I reckon as mint ones will become rarer as time goes by.

I love your defender, the sbape has been around for 70yrs like u said. They should never have brought out new one or if they did not changed the shape so much. Please please please keep yours lad will go up in valve

I love them both, But I would certainly buy a new one but also keep your old one wrapped up in cotton wool and cherish it. I just love the new 90 commercial version with steel wheels and the 240bhp Diesel would be my choice. Land Rover have done a fantastic job of bringing the Defender into the 21st century.

No you shouldn’t. You are not using yours, you won’t probably be using the new one either. Also yours value is going to increase overtime while the new one won’t.
